This tour is a blend of Mountains and a Heritage tour covering Mughal era architecture, Khewra Salt Mines, Hindu temple complex, and attending the Kalash tribe Chillam Joshi festival in Chitral district.
In the remote valleys of the Hindukush lies the valley of Kalash. Rumored to be the descendent of Macedonian King Alexander’s army, the valley is the home to the last members of the Kalash tribe.
Numbering around 5,000 the inhabitants live in the picturesque Birir, Bumburet and Rumbur Valleys. Considered Animists, they do not follow any religion. People of Kalash believe in the power of nature, refuged by the mountains surrounding their villages, and the changing season providing different food and fruits for sustenance.
Choimus Festival is the Kalash winter festival and is celebrated after the Kalash finish their fieldwork and store their cheese, fruit, vegetables and grains for the year.
You will arrive in Islamabad. If you arrive early, we will take you on a short city tour covering Lok Virsa Museum and Golra Railway Station. In the evening we will have a group meeting. Â
We will depart for Taxila archeological site, covering several Buddhist holiest site and the Taxila Museum. Evening we will visit Shopping centers.
Early in the morning, we will depart for Chitral via Swat Motorway in Dir, crossing the 10-km-long Lowari tunnel that connects to Chitral. For the next four days, we will spend time in the Kalash Valey and visit heritage sites and a National Park around Chitral
Departing Kalash valley early in the morning, we will depart back for Islamabad, arriving late in the evening for Swat Valley and will stay in Malam Jabba, a hill station and Ski resort. Enroute we will visit Gandhara (Buddhism) Civilization archeological sites and museums.
We will leave for Islamabad from Swat. Arriving late afternoon.Â
We now depart for Lahore. En route, we will visit the Katas Temples Complex and the world’s second-largest Salt mine in Khewra. We will arrive late in the evening in the cultural capital of Pakistan, Lahore.
A leisurely paced day visiting shopping centers and museums. Evening we will visit Wagha or Kasur border for a border closing ceremony.
We will spend 2-days visiting Wazir Khan Mosque, Lahore Fort, Badshahi Masjid, and many more architectural marvels from the Mughal Era.
Departure for home country.
