This tour is a blend of Mountains and a Heritage tour covering Mughal era architecture, Khewra Salt Mines, Hindu temple complex, and attending the Kalash tribe Chillam Joshi festival in Chitral district.

In the remote valleys of the Hindukush lies the valley of Kalash. Rumored to be the descendent of Macedonian King Alexander’s army, the valley is the home to the last members of the Kalash tribe.

Numbering around 5,000 the inhabitants live in the picturesque Birir, Bumburet and Rumbur Valleys. Considered Animists, they do not follow any religion. People of Kalash believe in the power of nature, refuged by the mountains surrounding their villages, and the changing season providing different food and fruits for sustenance.

Choimus Festival is the Kalash winter festival and is celebrated after the Kalash finish their fieldwork and store their cheese, fruit, vegetables and grains for the year.
