While trip to Hunza is linear, Skardu is a starburst – places of interest in all directions such as the Deosai Plateau, natural landscape, elusive valleys, ancient architecture, enchanted lakes, and a deserts in the middle of mountains.
One can visit the Ghanche district, going further north in Hushe Valley. Shigar, a poplar destination, one enjoys various activities on one of the highest cold deserts in the region, visit Shigar Fort and lakes. Climax of the journey will be an off-road ride to one of the highest plateaus at 4000 m, Deosai Plain, also called the Land of the Giants.
Though easily accessible by road requiring 2-days, we recommend that the journey starts by taking an exciting flight to Skardu. This will give us ample time to explore the Skardu region to the fullest. Spring, Summer, and Autumn are the most beautiful seasons in Skardu. Winters are harsh. Do note that access to Deosai plains is only for 3-4 months (July-October).
Day 1:
Arrive by Air to Skardu, and drive to Khaplu. Enroute visit Mantokha Waterfall.
Day 2:
Day trip to Sailing and Hushe Valley.
Day 3:
Drive to Shigar Valley, visit Safaranga Desert and sites around Shigar.
Day 4:
Full day trip to Deosai Plains, Sadpara Lake Manthial Buddha Rock. If Deosai is closed, visit Soq, Chunda or Basho valley.
Day 5:
Visit Upper and Lower Kachura Lake, hike to Kharphocho fort.
Day 6:
Flight back from Skardu.
Day 1:
Form Islamabad, drive to Chillas via Kaghan Valley if Babusar is open or via KKH
Day 2:
Drive to Skardu.
Day 3:
Drive to Shigar Valley, visit Safaranga Desert and sites around Shigar and Mantokha Waterfall
Day 4:
Full day trip to Deosai Plains, Sadpara Lake Manthial Buddha Rock. If Deosai is closed, visit Soq, Chunda or Basho valley.
Day 5:
Visit Upper and Lower Kachura Lake, hike to Kharphocho fort.
Day 6:
Drive back to Naran if Babusar Pass Open or via KKH to Beesham/Chilas.
Day 7:
Drive Back to Islamabad

Drive to Skardu
Day 3:

Day 9:
Drive Back to Islamabad
Day 1:
From Islamabad, drive to Chillas via Kaghan Valley if Babusar is open or via KKH.
Day 2:
Drive to Skardu.
Day 3:
Day trip to Shigar, visiting Safaranga Cold Desert, Khilingrong & Amburiq Mosque, Jarbachzoo Lake, Hashupi Bagh, and Shigar Fort.
Day 4:
If Deosai is open (July-Oct), full-day Jeep Safari visiting Sadpara Lake and Manthal Buddha Rock. Else, visit side valleys such as Chunda, Soq, or Bashoo.
Day 5:
Visit Mantoka Waterfall, Upper Kachura and Lower Kachura Lakes, and Sadpara Lake.
Day 6:
Depart for Karimabad in the Hunza Valley.
Day 7:
Visit Altit & Baltit Fort. Option to visit Hopar Valley in the afternoon.
Day 8:
Full-day trip to Khunjerab, with stops at Attabad Lake, Hussaini Bridge, Passu Glacier Viewpoint, and Khunjerab Pass. Return to Gilgit.
Day 9:
Drive back to Naran if Babusar Pass is open or via KKH to Besham.
Day 10:
Drive back to Islamabad.
