Welcome To Neelum Valley

Neelum Valley, bow-shaped and running parallel to Neelum River (also known as Kishanganga) is the most beautiful valley of Kashmir. It is situated in the north-north-east of Muzaffarabad and stretches all the way to Taobat, the last hamlet, approx. 240 km away. The valley runs parallel to the Kaghan Valley, separated by snow-covered mountains, some 5000 m high on the west, with Indian-held Kashmir to the east.

The valley is lush green with thick pine forests, and meadows, surrounded with snow-covered mountains, distant hidden high alpine lakes like Ratti Gali and Chitta Khata Lake, and a rich cultural heritage that dates back 4,000 years.

The last main city Kel in the valley is approximately 300 km from Islamabad. Neelum Valley is situated at a high elevation, with some parts of the valley reaching over 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) above sea level.

It is also a heaven for adventure seekers and trekkers offering several trekking routes, to high alpine lakes and meadows.

The weather in Neelum Valley is typically cool in the summer, with temperatures ranging between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). This makes it an ideal getaway during the hot summer months, especially for those looking to escape the heat of the plains. Neelum Valley experiences harsh winters, with temperatures dropping well below freezing point, especially in higher altitudes like Arang Kel, Ratti Gali, and Sharda. The region also receives heavy snowfall during the winter months, turning the valley into a winter wonderland.

Neelum Valley is famous for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts, including woolen shawls, carpets, and handmade rugs. These items are often sold in local markets, and tourists often purchase them as souvenirs.

Neelum Valley is a hidden gem of Pakistan, offering stunning natural beauty, rich culture, and a wide range of outdoor activities. Whether you’re an adventure enthusiast looking for trekking routes or simply seeking a peaceful retreat in nature, Neelum Valley provides an unforgettable experience. Its breathtaking landscapes, friendly people, and unique cultural heritage make it one of the most enchanting destinations in Pakistan.
